Dear CETFA supporter:
The municipality of Sainte-Perpétue, Quebec, is again featuring exactly the same cruel pig wrestling events as last year for its upcoming festival, which is scheduled for August 5-9, 2015.
During this event, domestic pigs, as well as wild boars, are forced into an arena to frantically run in a futile attempt to evade men who grab at them and slam them into a barrel.
Like last year, CETFA is campaigning to end this cruel event, and petitioning the municipality of Sainte-Perpétue to stop supporting it. We have renewed hope that the event can be stopped as the Agriculture Minister in Quebec, Pierre Paradis, recently tabled a bill that, if passed, would see animals in Quebec as „sentient beings“ rather than property.
Please help us put an end to these cruel events by signing our petition and sharing it widely. If you have already signed, please email the mayor and city councilors (contact info below) and urge them to cancel this abusive and outdated event that does not reflect Quebecers’ growing concern for animal welfare. Remind them that pigs are sentient beings, capable of fear and suffering, and should be protected from such abuse. Please forward any responses to us.
Thank you for standing with us for Canadian farmed animals!
The CETFA team.
